"In the end, we conserve what we love, we love what we understand, and we understand what we are taught."- Baba Dioum
I am a STEAM educator based in Philadelphia. After earning my Bachelors in Biology with Teaching in 2017 from the TUTeach program at Temple University, I moved on to a high school teaching position at New Foundations Charter School. At New Foundations, I teach Environmental Science, and have created both a Marine Biology course and a Science Olympiad team. My students are my life, and it is my goal to help them develop an appreciation for and understanding of the world around them.
Outside of my high school classroom, I work extensively with the STEM Ed Network at Temple University. My work at Temple is part of a larger project called ComputeSTEM. Through ComputeSTEM, I teach a course for in-service and pre-service STEM teachers that facilitates the integration of computer programming into all STEM courses. I have also developed several summer camp curricula, which have utilized Python coding, virtual reality, and robotics systems. In addition to my work with Temple University, I have been involved with public education programs at The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University. I became a teacher because I believe that educating others is the best way to help protect the world from the host of environmental issues that it faces. As I have grown as an educator, I have come to realize that this same principle is true of most things- if you can bring students to a place of love and understanding, they are going to want to make the world around them better. This website is a snapshot of who I am as an educator, what my beliefs are, and what I am capable of achieving. |
